How will I get clients?

This is actually much easier than you may be thinking right now. Here are some examples: Facebook is an excellent resource. An account is free and building a fan page takes less than 5 minutes. You can advertise to very specific groups of people who want and need your services. Of course, you can also use Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, Pinterest and your other favorite social media platforms.  It’s 100% FREE. Create and post a press release about your business launch. It’s simple and free to syndicate your press releases across the web. Creating a blog for your business is very fast and essentially free. We have resources for your online marketing needs here. You can make training/coaching videos and post them to Youtube. When you offer this valuable free help, people get to know you and learn to like you. In return, they want to know more and they are directed back to your Facebook fan page or blog for details.  Of course, you can post your videos to all video sites for an even greater reach. Adding your business to Yelp is also a great idea.  It gets ranked high on Google which makes your job even easier. Make sure you also add your business profile to Google Local.  That’s another free and easy way to get clients. As for off-line client-getting strategies, you can do any of the following: attend local charity events, speak at community events, do a lunch-and-learn at a local business, volunteer for a local charity, distribute door hangers, post flyers, add a graphic/banner to your car, and the list goes on and on.  Once you get started, you’ll see how easy it is to do.  Now that you know what you need to do, you just need to implement and the clients will come in on a regular basis.

Is protecting the planet a smart business strategy?

No matter what you believe about global warming, organic foods, and green products, every home and business depends upon the earth to provide what it needs to thrive.

Whether it’s the paper you buy for your office or home, or the water you drink or bathe in, to the furniture, hardwood floors, or simply the construction of dwelling you live in day in and day out, we are all affected by the environment.

Consumers are becoming savvy shoppers

Eco Living

Consumers have begun to demand environmentally friendly and socially responsible products.

According to the Global Market Institute, 42 percent of Americans are willing to spend more for products branded as organic, environmentally friendly or fair trade
(50 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds, 37 percent of 45- to 64-year-olds). A survey done by Boston Consulting Group (BCG) of 9,000 consumers worldwide indicates that buying green products remains a priority despite economic woes.

73% of consumers of the BCG considered it important that companies have good environmental records. Respondents said that companies should be clear about product risks and safety, provide information on environmental impact, have high ethical standards, and treat their employees fairly.

Going green is big business

In addition to meeting consumer demand, organizations are finding that going green reduces expenses.

Xerox estimates $2 billion in savings through eco-design and manufacturing, in addition to keeping 1.2 billion pounds of

electronic waste out of landfills (source:, 2002).

Doing good can also mean doing well financially. Over a five-year period, the Dow Jones Group Sustainability Index (DJGSI) performed an average of 36.1 percent better than the traditional Dow Jones Group Index (DJGI).

Toyota uses one production line to make multiple vehicle types, a move that has helped reduce energy usage in the factory 30 percent since 2000 (which results in reduced expenses).

Apple Computer was criticized for its perceived lack of dedication to the environment. As Apple crossed the threshold of selling its hundred millionth iPod, CEO Steve Jobs announced the company would expand its iPod recycling and take-back programs. Apple now, like many of its competitors, is providing annual reports on environmental impact.

The world’s largest retailer has gone green

Wal-Mart CEO Scott Lee has taken the retail giant in a new direction. Not known for social responsibility in the recent past, Wal-Mart has become a market leader in emissions reduction, cost savings and customer opportunities.

Wal-Mart’s launch of their Sustainability Index, requires “top-tier” consumer product companies to complete a 15-question assessment form with details about their carbon footprint, resource use and ethical business practices.
