Are you one of the millions of Americans wanting to lose weight? Have you sought out professional help for chronic ailments or emotional hang-ups?

The vicious cycle of being determined to improve our condition, followed by the frustration of another dead end can leave a person feeling crummy in and of itself! Worse, with enough invested it can feel like we’re throwing good money after bad.

Well, there’s a new game in town. The accolades this technique has been receiving are hard to ignore. From Wayne Dyer to the Success Coach in your office building, the word is out and “Tapping” is in!

The appeal of Tapping or the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is wide and varied. First, there’s no expense once you understand the principles. Further, it can be done anywhere at anytime. Another feature is you can apply it to any area of your life you wish to improve. It sounds like the elixir of life, doesn’t it?

The basis of Tapping or EFT is to tap on specific points of your head, upper body and hands while repeating simple sentences. The whole process takes less than five minutes. People everywhere are adding EFT to their daily rituals, right alongside showering and breakfast. There’s only one reason for that. They’re convinced it’s made a difference in their Wellness.

The truth is, Tapping has a long history. In long held Asian traditions it’s been used to stimulate energy and circulation in the body. There are some differences in the Eastern and Western applications. However, what they have in common is the use of Acupressure points or energy meridians that are believed to exist in the human body. Westernized EFT focuses on the upper body, whereas Eastern traditions have been known to happily Tap on trunk, legs and feet as well.

The sentences that are repeated during a Tapping session are as simple as the technique itself. They first incorporate your acknowledgement of the situation or ailment you wish to change. This is followed by an empowering phrase meant to reprogram your subconscious mind that speaks into your desired outcome. The consensus is that a feeling of relaxation or deep peace ensues from the session. Once the session is complete, the pain falls away or the behavioral choices are modified.

One of the most interesting pieces of information about all of this is the changes are touted as nearly immediate! There are no long periods of evaluation and you don’t have to be entirely convinced it’ll even work. The instant gratification many seek is supposedly readily available with EFT. With that kind of review, it’s hard not to be curious!

It’s that curiosity that has commanded the attention of New Thought Leaders, Neuroscientists and Personal Coaches everywhere. You’ll now find Practitioners and Healers of every type incorporating Tapping into their workshops and sessions. In this age where we’re just beginning to understand the principles of energy, how it completes the body and our ability to alter our state of being through that understanding- it may just come to pass that Tapping is not as simplistic as it seems.
