The Body’s Systems Related to Holistic Nutrition Coaching

December 29, 2022 by John

definition of holisitc nutritionLesson Outcomes: After reading this lesson, you will be able to do the following:

  • Describe the structure of skeletal muscle and explain the process of muscle contraction
  • Describe the characteristics of the various muscle fiber types

To truly have a complete understanding of holistic nutrition, we must possess some knowledge of biochemistry. This equates to the study of events such as reactions, energy transfer, and transport processes at the subcellular and molecular levels within the body. As a Certified Holistic Nutrition Coach (CHNC) it is not likely that you will have long discussions with clients about parts of this knowledge, but you absolutely must know it. [Read more…]

How Does a Holistic Life Coach Understand a Client’s True Self?

October 23, 2022 by John

Looking Inward, Uncovering the “Selfs”

Can your holistic coaching client set time aside to look in the mirror and enjoy the experience and magic that is waiting to unfold? Through excellence in coaching, the process of awakening your client’s sacred self is revealed to them through a few simple steps, allowing your client to fully access their potential and the gifts that await them for being successful in their efforts.

When we say gifts, what exactly do we mean? Life is full of experiences waiting to be embraced. When we have the clarity and an open heart to receive the blessings that lie before us, we are then able to discover that the Higher Power of our sacred self is ready to assist us whenever you ask. This is the gift that a lot of people are always searching for – it is not a given, it is not guaranteed.

“I know in each moment I am free to decide”  How many of us can say this and mean it 100% of the time?  For some coaches, your work with  a client might meant that you have to persuade your client – for it is the client who must have the insight to realize that they have been looking in the wrong direction for the better part of their   life, as most people view themselves holistically from an imbalanced state of internal and external influences; they may also have an imbalance of positive vs. negative attractors acting on them. Ayurveda Nutritional Considerations for Improving Health

October 22, 2022 by John

\how to practice ayurveda dailyWhat do you do if you are bored with your current food choices or eating healthy? What if your intuition tells you that our client will be receptive to Ayurveda and thus benefit from incorporating its principles into their holistic lifestyle? Maybe they have outwardly stated that they are ready for a change.

Ayurveda could also be seen as a way to enhance or augment physical holism, perhaps more so than having our client eat organics. This because Ayurveda is a complete way of restoring the body’s balance.

Ayurveda, translated as the “science of life,” is an that utilizes various therapies including diet, yoga, and herbal preparations to restore harmony and balance within the body. But one does not simply proclaim themselves an Ayuerveda practitioner until they have been formally trained in a professional manner. If this is not something you are interested in, it does not mean that your client can not benefit from learning some Ayurveda principles.

How to Talk About Dieting With Your Coaching Client

May 3, 2022 by Liz Carter

Shifting The Narrative Around Diets and Nutrition

how should a coach discuss eating and food with their clients?

Diet culture primarily focuses on telling individuals to “reduce”, “limit”, “restrict”, “avoid” and “eliminate” certain foods or entire food groups. As a result, when exercise professionals partner with their clients to examine their unique dietary habits and patterns, our clients often focus on “eliminating” something from their diet. Sometimes it means the client voices a need to eliminate carbs, cut out sugar, or reduce red meat intake.

Sustainable behavior change does not occur because someone says “stop that” or “don’t do this” messages. Instead, help your clients shift the narrative to be one of “how can I add healthy items and tasty ingredients to my current intake?” As a Holistic Nutrition Coach or Personal Fitness Chef, you can and should be talking to your clients about general healthy nutrition practices.

Here are a few ways to infuse flavor into ordinary meals and some suggestions for how to add more calories and gain weight in a healthy and sustainable way. [Read more…]

Empowering and Repowering Your Clients

February 4, 2021 by Liz Carter

Reaching Holistic Goals

A great coach distinguishes his or herself by how well they empower clients to begin to take responsibility and take steps towards their holistic goals. Since it helps to identify and untangle some of the barriers that have kept them stuck, we want to look at what our client sees as important.

Your First Meeting and Assessment

Holistic goals that require change for our client are not going to happen overnight but we can usually organize a complete strategy for clients within the first couple of sessions. With this in mind, be sure to inform clients that your first meeting with them is really a conversation – about the fit between yourself and the client. It is also a time for assessing if Holistic Coaching is right for them.

How to Prioritize Holism in Your Lifestyle | Holistic Nutrition and Living

January 29, 2021 by Liz Carter

Holistic Nutrition and Living

The word holistic denotes interconnectivity. Prioritizing a Holistic lifestyle means understanding the importance of various factors in health, and how they are interconnected. It means that for a healthy lifestyle, one needs to take multiple steps.

Holistic health or lifestyle is a neglected thing in conventional medicine, which focuses on signs and symptoms and treating disease conditions. However, a holistic approach to health and nutrition forms the basis of most traditional forms of medicine.

What is Holistic Medicine and Coaching?

If you’ve ever had an interest in holism, you have probably heard the expression “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts,” which is a great way to summarize holism, but what does that mean to you as a coach, or more importantly, what does this mean to your client?
