COVID-19 Editorial from Spencer Institute Director Mark Teahan
I have watched the reports, I’ve gasped at the situation in New York. I’ve seen the profiteers selling masks at inflated prices, I’ve seen the fear of everyone alive today.
I’m not talking about the fear of death, I’m talking about the fear of never getting back to normal.
What will it take?
Well, in my state, we need to get to “herd immunity”. I find this ironic because we won’t get it if we are all locked down. That said, I credit our governor for locking us down early in CA; despite what the news says, our outlook is not as grim as once predicted.
On a national level… 2.2 million became 1.1 million which became 500k then onto 100k, 80k, and now 60k. The honest truth? ONE life lost is gutting. Most of us are simply unable to process what we’re seeing in New York.
We can’t change where we are at. We can only look to the future and that is completely uncertain right now. But I propose you shape your own thoughts, without the media making things worse. I’m blown away on a daily basis at the ineptness of mainstream media. I’ve run out of fingers to count how many erroneous stories they have broadcast. My only hope is that you all see that, too. Some of my friends do not, based on the panic texts I have received.
For example…COVID can live on the ground for days – meaning we can track it home and then spread it to Fido or our cat. How is that helping? How is it even true? Do you believe that?
Or, how about the claim that Florida spring breakers went home and brought the virus with them and that they have been tracked using their cellphones to verify this. Really, please. Tell me more.
It is a really scary time for Apple and Google to hype a tracking system that people actually want. Forget HIPAA. Forget your privacy. You’ll want this app to let everyone know your virus shame. But hey, it worked for South Korea! It’s beyond ridiculous.
I feel for anyone who has lost someone to COVID. Isn’t that bad enough – or, does the media have to keep us all circling the drain?
Rise up, wise up, and get ready. Because when this virus is “gone gone” as The Donald says, we will have to face some very very serious questions about our health. If there is to be a second wave, how will
you fare, health-wise?
Until then, stop watching the news. Check it in the AM or PM but beyond that, you’re feeding the tree.
