Certification Renewal Process
Recertification Program Overview
The Spencer Institute Executive Certification Board (ECB) requires all certified coaches to recertify every two years (2-years) to maintain their credentials.
This policy applies to the following specialized coaching programs:
- Sleep Science Coach
- Wellness Coach
- Master Health and Wellness Coach
- Corporate Wellness Coach
- Holistic Life Coach
- Longevity Coach
Recertification is essential for:
Ensuring coaches stay current with the latest developments in coaching practices, scientific research, and industry trends. Maintaining the high standards and reputation of Spencer Institute certifications. Promoting continuous professional growth and skill enhancement. Demonstrating ongoing commitment to excellence in coaching.
Continuing Education Requirements:
You must complete 2.0 CEUs within each two-year renewal period.
One (1) CEU represents 10 hours of study or contact time.
A list of approved courses is available through Spencer Institute Continuing Education.
If you completed health or wellness courses outside of Spencer Institute, you must request approval in advance by submitting a petition.
What is a CEU: A CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is a way for health and wellness coaches to track their ongoing learning. It’s earned by participating in things like online courses, workshops, or conferences. CEUs show that coaches are keeping their skills and knowledge up-to-date in their field.
Good news! If you hold multiple Spencer Institute certifications, you only need to complete 2.0 CEUs (20 hours) to apply towards all your certifications, not each one individually.

Renewal Steps:
Complete and submit application: Online Form
1. Fee: $75 for two-year recertification (per certificate renewal)
2. Submit application 90 days before expiration
3. Late applications accepted up to 90 days after expiration with additional fees
Late Fees (additional cost):
- 1-30 days late: $25
- 31-60 days late: $50
- 61-90 days late: $95
After 90 days: Certification becomes void, re-examination required
Upon submitting the application, the applicant will be redirected to a secure payment site (https://store.nestacertified.com).
Payment Options:
Credit card (Debit Card/Visa/MasterCard/Amex)
Payments will be processed under the parent company: National Endurance & Sports Trainers Association (NESTA).

Lifetime Certifications: All other Spencer Institute certifications are now lifetime certifications! No renewals are required, and your existing certification remains valid. You can request a free updated digital certificate by contacting Student Support. For a printed and mailed updated certificate, visit https://www.nestacertified.com/fees/ (fees apply).
