Course Modules Outline:

Module 1 – An Introduction to Holism

You will learn to understand what the holistic movement involves and how it has evolved to impact our population. This is explained as increasing client awareness related to living holistically. Essentially, more people are learning the benefits of living holistically.

You will learn different dimensions of holism; we distinguish the coach from holistic practitioners, and we define the current state of coaching as a way of building structure into a coaching model.

The first module introduces the student to the CHLC Manual, with content for coaches looking to learn holistic principles that are coachable and a detailed coaching model.

Module 2 – Essential Coaching Skills

This lesson ties in aspects of holism to the coaching actions by defining the coach’s presence, specifically the “Doing Skills” used in coaching.

Detailed descriptions of coaching skills are provided to support information on assessments that follow. You will learn the need to use certain skills at just the right time to make coaching more effective.

You will learn what to listen for when working with clients. We begin the exploration into positive and negative energy from the client in this module.

You will be introduced to the importance of client assessments from this module.

Module 3 – Essential Coaching Skills

You will learn to complement their skills by discovering the “Being Skills” of coaching – including a coaching cornerstone, mindfulness. Mindfulness becomes the basis for powerful coaching interactions.

Awareness of being skills is required, as coaches project their being skills to their client(s).

Training includes the search for positive feelings from our client and the powerful motivators we can access. You learn to maximize effective coaching by motivating change and connecting your client’s internal and external influences.

Module 4 – Client Assessments

You will learn the value of doing accurate assessments; coaches are instructed on understanding the client’s actions and words that are shared during early sessions in the coaching relationship.

Training includes the need to evaluate the client in holistic terms, coaches are instructed on the components of a good assessment, including the planned structure of the assessment, the explanation of assessment protocols for each client, and the way the information will be used once assessed.

Assessments for mind, body, and spirit are included and explained as part of a larger need to assess how holistic our client is living currently.

Module 5 – Coach self-evaluation

The course concludes with an in-depth self-assessment for the coach, including an evaluation of 6 key areas.

The content for this module is interactive; you will navigate through different aspects of coaching to determine self-assessment criteria.

Recommendations are made for coaches in each area, based on their informal self-review; coaches also submit a self-evaluation to Spencer Institute.

Expanded Bonus Materials that Deliver What Coaches Need to Thrive

On its own, evidence-based knowledge sounds great – but what does it mean to a coach? To advance coaching from training to application, we believe the steps required are often left out. This leads to a well-informed coach asking, “Great, I know a lot but not enough to actually coach”.

With your investment in any Spencer Institute certification, you will receive a collection of curated content in the complementary Essential Coaching Skills course. This course will be added to your account upon logging in to your student account.

We provide interactive modules to master your coaching presence. Learn how to start fresh with a client and where to take things from there. Our mission: get the coach comfortable so that you can focus on your client and your strategies. It’s that simple.

“I found the CHLC course to be very informative and useful in my own holistic journey. I’ve learned a lot of valuable information from taking the CHLC course. The course materials has helped me to align myself with my holistic life and business goals. The holistic coaching techniques described in the manual will assist me in developing my coaching style. I would also like to point out that I found the CHLC exam to be challenging never-the-less that it was an open book exam. Which is a good thing. Most open book exams are extremely easy. I’m grateful to have taken your course and look forward to enrolling in another course at a later date”.
