The Entrepreneur Mindset for Coaches

July 30, 2019 by Liz Carter

What sets us apart? What makes us different from every other person, or what makes us alike with some other people? Mindset. Our mindsets are how we think; it is how our minds are set. People would often say, “if you want to change your life, change your thoughts.” In other words, our mindsets determine how we live our lives.

In our world of today, more people are looking to become entrepreneurs leaving behind regular employment in the pursuit of bigger dreams; while this is a good thing, I’ll also point out that you will not be a successful entrepreneur without the proper mindset. The big question now is, what is the entrepreneur mindset?

The entrepreneur mindset is how entrepreneurs think, the kind of mental attitude they possess, and the discipline they imbibe. It doesn’t matter if you are starting a business or if you are an employee; entrepreneurship is more of the mind than it is of owning a business.

Below is a list of some of the most important mindsets an entrepreneur possesses:

Problem-solving

Every entrepreneur wants to solve problems; it doesn’t matter in what capacity they find themselves; they seek problems, and solve those problems. To be a successful entrepreneur, you must have eyes that seek out challenges and a mind that thinks of how to solve them. To do this, you will continuously have to look around yourself and ask how you can improve on a product, how you can make life easier, etc.

Goal-Oriented

An entrepreneur is goal-oriented, and when they achieve goals, they set new ones. They are continually setting goals and achieving them; they do not only dream, they do. The next time you get stuck or bored with the routine, you can set new goals to keep your adrenaline pumping. When setting your goals, make sure they are attainable, you do not want to end up frustrated when you can achieve the goals you set; this is not to say you should set small goals. By all means, trust your abilities, set big goals, ensure they are SMART.

Highly Disciplined

Most people get carried away when they believe they are no longer accountable to a boss, and this should not be so. Holding yourself to a higher standard keeps you on your toes and ensures you and your business does not fail. For you to be successful at entrepreneurship when running your business, you need to be financially disciplined; you need to be committed to improving your skillset even when no one is looking, you need to be committed to your goals and highly accountable to yourself.

The Winning Mindset

For an entrepreneur, confidence is key. Entrepreneurs get scared too, they doubt their abilities and sometimes question their decisions, but through all of that, they remain confident, trusting their guts to win. For an entrepreneur, there are no losses; only lessons.

Creative Mindset

To be a successful entrepreneur, you have to be creative. A lot of people are probably already doing what you want to do. The key to being different and successful is in adding a creative twist. Creativity involves innovation and constant reinvention; creativity is the soul of entrepreneurship.
