13 Marketing Ideas to Skyrocket Your Coaching Business

July 9, 2019 by Liz Carter

How can I market my online coaching? At some point, you’ve probably heard that coaching is growing up really fast and that every day there are more and more coaches out there.

These days, distances are short as you can do everything with just a click, and this makes the competition to be bigger because you don’t only have competitor close to you, but also have hundreds, and even thousands of them, miles away.

Therefore, it is so important you make yourself visible online, to use good marketing to reach the clients that need you before your competition does.

In this article I’m going to share with you marketing ideas for coaches, just don’t try to use them all at once, start by what you haven’t implemented yet in your coaching business or those that can adapt better to you, and then when you have mastered these, keep introducing the rest.

1. DEFINE YOUR NICHE

When you start coaching, you think everyone will be interested in your service, you think you can be useful for everyone. I’m not saying you are not, but it is key for you to define your niche, meaning, the group of people to whom your services will be more useful.

Those people that read you and truly feel you have written for them, and that will be thrilled with paying for your services because they know you understand them and can help them.

Defining your market niche can also be translated into saving for you, as you won’t be wasting time or money in marketing actions that go to the wrong audience.

2. CREATE YOUR VALUE PROPOSAL

No matter what, someone is already doing the same thing you are doing, however, there is a way of standing out in the competition by finding your differentiating element and creating your unique value proposition.

In your value proposal, you need to include the characteristics and benefits of your product or service, provide a clear idea of what you do and why you do it, and which needs are covered with your product or service.

All of these in one unique, simple phrase that when people ask you what you do, they immediately understand it.

3. CREATE YOUR CORPORATE IMAGE

If you want to have a place in your client’s minds, you need to have really clear which are the elements that make your brand or business.

Before starting, you need to define your mission and vision, if you are clear with the goal of your business, your image will be trustworthy, people will identify you quicker, and you will stand out by being different from others.

  • The name of your business/brand: Once you have identified the meaning of your company, what follows is having a name, the name needs to be related with the essence of your business, or with yourself, the recommendation is to keep it short, easy to remember, and without weird characters.
  • Logo: This is what represents your company, the thing that sticks in your client’s memory, a simple logo that you can identify with. You can choose between an image logo, typography, or both.

Working with these elements together will help you position your company in your customer’s minds.

4. CREATE A BLOG AND START WRITING ARTICLES

Writing articles is the best way to show the world your knowledge, and what will make clients find you, so, when writing them, try to talk about a solution to a common problem that your market niche is facing.

Always try to bring real value into these articles, because by publishing them in your blog or social media, people can find you when they are looking for a solution to their problem, feeling identified with you and making them want to hire you.

Besides, it is also a way to position yourself as an expert in the market.

5. ORGANIZE YOUR ONLINE CALENDAR – USE TOOLS TO AUTOMATE YOUR BUSINESS

To be more productive there are some tools that may help.

Auto replier: this tool will help you be in communication with your clients, to send them offers and valuable information, before their acceptance. This way, you don’t have to check every time a client subscribes to your blog.

A tool for social media, like Buffer, in which you can program content to post on your different profiles at the day and time that you want. It will save you a lot of time.

Manage your appointments with your online clients and avoid all the emails to set them with tools like Calendly or YouCanBookMe, with these you give the client the possibility of choosing the dates and times you previously set up, to then receive a notice to let you know about the new appointment.

There is a before and after using these tools in your business, and during the coaching practices, it will be an essential resource to have a lot of appointments and being able to have some control over it.

6. CREATE A MARKETING PLAN

Basically, a marketing plan is a document that has all the necessary information to achieve your goals and all the necessary actions you need to perform, to reach the people in your niche.

  • Start by delimiting the Budget you have.
  • Define the strategies you will follow to achieve it.
  • The time you will dispone for every action.
  • The resources you have, and which ones you need to acquire or learn.
  • How your digital presence is going to be, in blogs, social media, youtube, etc.

Is not just about creating a marketing plan and then forgetting about it, leaving it on your computer and never using it.

It is necessary to measure and correct what is working and what is not working, as well as those things that are not leading you to your goal, that way you can discover and repeat the actions that have proven to be effective.

7. SOCIAL MEDIA PRESENCE

Many people think that to have a presence, you need to be in every social media, however, this is not only false but a mistake.

Less is more, because, what’s the point on having a profile on every social media, if you are not going to have a presence, or worse if your true audience is not in that particular social network.

Yes, you need to be on social media, but only in those networks where your market niche is, so you can start creating your community. Keep in mind that every social network is different, and the same content won’t work for all of them all the time.

Twitter is a faster social network, as you can provide the information to your followers, and they can visualize it really fast.

Facebook is a social network where people spend more time, there are groups for almost everything you can imagine, but you need to keep in mind that people mostly go to Facebook for entertainment, and not to buy anything, so you need to truly know how to reach your potential clients without them feeling annoyed or invaded.

Instagram is the social network with more growth, as it is a more visual social network.

8. CREATE THE PROFILE OF YOUR IDEAL CLIENT

This is the person you want to attract to your business, and you need to know what concerns them so you can provide a solution.

Is the person who finds the solution to their problem on the products or services you are offering, that is willing to invest in you, and that is satisfied with your service.

You need to detail this person very well and do some research, so you can get to know this ideal client as much as yourself.

Demographic Data: if it’s a man or a female, their education, civil status, professional activity, and other family data.

Interests and Habits: what they do in their free time, the books they read, the websites they visit, where they solve their doubts, etc.

9. SEND EMAILS TO YOUR DATABASE

Some people say that email marketing is dead, or that there are other tools in front of it such as Messenger and WhatsApp, to keep in touch with your potential clients.

Our opinion is radically opposite, email is now more alive than ever, because, every day you open your inbox and check your emails, right?

This is why having a list of people interested in your products or services that might become clients, is an excellent marketing strategy because you manage that data.

Other people think that having hundreds of fans on their Facebook page immediately makes them contacts, but Facebook is a platform controlled by others, and you don’t know the data that is there, so, if Facebook closes tomorrow, you would lose all your contacts. But, if you have your contacts outside this platform, you will always have all their information in your hands. mano.

Nurture your contact list with valuable information, invite them to events and other marketing actions you perform. You can even offer them discounts in your coaching sessions, and if you think this could be interesting for their friends or contacts, ask them to share the information.

You don’t have to spend a fortune to send emails to your database in a professional way. There are tools like MailChimp that are free, and that offer lots of functionalities. 10. DO ONLINE ADVERTISING

This is essential advice, there is no mentor out there that doesn’t recommend this, and from our perspective, is the best way to reach your target, that ideal client you have defined.

You can advertise on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or LinkedIn, as their platforms are really intuitive to make publicity with a good return.

Remember that you can do advertising even if you don’t have a blog yet, as you can lead your visitors to a sales website or even your fan page.

11. CREATE YOUR WEBSITE

In this matter, there are always mixed opinions, some people will tell you don’t need a website or a blog for your business, that with a sales page is enough.

However, even if it’s true you can start your business without having a website, the ideal is for you to have your own site where you can include valuable information in the form of articles, that can bring solutions to common problems your clients face, so when looking for solutions, they find your website and start a relationship with you.

This will make that when they need a more professional solution, you are well-positioned in their minds, so they think of you to solve their problem.

12. ALWAYS MEASURE THE RESULTS YOUR ONLINE STRATEGY IS MAKING

In the digital world, there are no excuses for not knowing if your strategies are working or not. In traditional marketing, the most you could do was to know which percentage of the invested money was not having a good return, but you couldn’t know what you were doing great.

In digital marketing is actually simple to know how Good your actions are performing.

With free tools like Google Analytics, you can obtain valuable information about your website, from where are your visitors coming, how long they stay in your pages, and other interesting facts.

Also, in Facebook, you can measure how well your advertising is doing, from which country are you having more clicks, if they are mostly men or females, and even obtain metrics of your fan page.

13. HIRE A MENTOR OR MARKETING COACH

Someone that sees your business from another perspective and can help you find the best path for you.

This person will help you take the correct action or decision, according to the stage you’re at, it will give you a different vision to the one you have if your is not entirely correct.

Our advice is that if you can hire it, stop hesitating and let yourself be guided.
